　　故事发生在19世纪的英国，贝姬（奥利维亚·库克 Olivia Cooke 饰）出生在贫寒的家庭之中，长大后，她和同样出生平凡的夏普先生结为了夫妻，尽管前途渺茫，但在贝姬的内心里，她从未放弃过进入上流社会的幻想。

　　这部由Emilia di Girolamo负责编剧的剧集讲述1992年的真实犯罪事件 - Rachel Nickell强奸谋杀案。当时警方认为Colin Stagg是真凶但却证据不足，而无奈之下年轻探长决定与国内一名犯罪侧写师合作，并进行一次十分大胆的卧底行动。Niamh Algar饰演卧底警员Lizzie James，她被指派接近嫌疑犯Colin Stagg并引诱对方。
　　另外，现实是Colin Stagg并非真凶，凶手真身是Robert Napper，而08年时英国内政部得向Colin Stagg赔偿706000英镑。

　　一名被困在来世的青少年决定与一群高中也被困在地狱的其他学生一起调查她的失踪。

　　Filming has started on BBC Two’s critically acclaimed drama The Last Kingdom, from Carnival Films.
