　　大吉爷爷（立川志之辅 饰）的老伴在不久之前离开了他，留下老头子和一只名叫小玉的猫过着相依为命的生活。虽然大吉爷爷感到非常的寂寞，但可爱又活泼的小玉给他的心灵带来了短暂的抚慰，一人一猫的日子过得也算是惬意。
　　一天，镇里来了一个名叫美智子（柴咲幸 饰）的女人，这个身份背景一概无人知晓的神秘女人在镇上开了一家非常时尚的咖啡店，很快就宾客盈门。大吉爷爷想吃老伴做的豌豆饭，于是翻出了老伴没有写完的食谱有样学样，美智子鼓励大吉爷爷继承老伴的遗志，完成这本食谱，于是，大吉爷爷的人生开始有了新的方向和希望。

　　影片由主创瑞安·弗雷克、安娜·波顿联手执导。片中，澳洲演员本·门德尔森饰演一名走背字的天才赌徒盖瑞，在遇到了“幸运星”柯蒂斯（瑞安·雷诺兹饰）之后，他说服后者一同踏上了遍访新奥尔良所有赌场的豪赌之旅。旅途中两人的友情逐渐升温，而他们对于自己的“爱好”、家庭、感情也有了不同以往的认识。

But Moti doesn't like working in the turkey barn; his passion is fixing up junkyard cars and bringing them back to life. Moti's mother Sarah tries to reconcile between the two, while his grandfather pushes Yitzhak to take a firm hand with his son. Yitzhak takes Moti's refusal to work in the turkey barn as a personal rejection. Though he loves his son dearly, he makes it his mission to impose the family farm on Moti. The arrival of Darius, the uncle from America, sets off a chain of events that will undermine the familial harmony. Soon enough Yitzhak will learn that his son is just as stubborn as he is. 　　由于妻子美荣子（菅野美穗 饰）受到农药的影响而致病，家住青森县中津轻郡岩木山脚下的木村秋则（阿部隆史 饰）决定放弃果农延续多年的作业办法，希望培育出无需喷洒农药的纯天然苹果。他的决定超乎常人的想象，同时也被村民们认为是不可能的任务。可是一旦做了决定，他便一门心思研究起来。在此期间，美容子以及岳父征治（山崎努 饰）成为他精神和物质上最坚实的后盾。然而全无任何可以借鉴的秋则，只能在不断的失败中摸索前进，即使经过十几年的努力，他的梦想依然没能实现，而原本好好的一个家也到了崩溃的边缘。他哭泣，他绝望，期盼奇迹的降临……
