　　本片改编自2006年挪威畅销同名小说。故事的主人公艾娃是一个“毛孩儿”，生活在20世纪初期的北欧。她因为自己的基因疾病，全身大面积被毛发覆盖。人们叫她狮子女。影片跟随她的成长经历描述了那个时代北欧的生活面貌。从参加剧团扮演丑角，到成为一个作家，狮子女艾娃慢慢学会接受自己，用自己的智慧独立生活，并最终赢得他人的尊敬。
